Tucked beside our whole foods shop on Great Western Road, the Roots & Fruits Cafe has become a West End favourite for those who appreciate good food made with quality ingredients. It's a proper neighbourhood spot. The kind of place where you can settle in with the papers, meet a friend for brunch, or simply grab a great cup of coffee on your way somewhere else.

Breakfast and Brunch

Our kitchen serves breakfast and brunch throughout the day, with a menu that covers all the essentials and a few things you won't find elsewhere.

The Roots Breakfast is our take on the full Scottish: bacon, tomatoes, spinach, black pudding, beans, mushrooms, toasted sourdough and eggs cooked however you like them. For something lighter, there's organic porridge with fresh berries and maple syrup, or our homemade granola with seasonal fruit compote.

If eggs are what you're after, we do them well. Huevos rancheros with tortilla, salsa, avocado and black beans. Avo di Gallo with smashed avocado and nicopeno salado on sourdough. A Scandi breakfast with smoked salmon and home-pickled beetroot. Or the Deli Breakfast with brisket pastrami and home-pickled cucumber.

We haven't forgotten plant-based eaters either. The vegan breakfast comes with Lorne sausage, potato hash, beans, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms and sourdough.

Coffee and Drinks

Our coffee is supplied by Charlie Mills, an independent Glasgow roaster. Expect something rich and full-flavoured, with warm chocolatey notes when paired with milk.

We offer oat, soy and coconut milk for those who prefer plant-based alternatives.

Beyond coffee, there's a carefully chosen selection of teas including Earl Grey, Long Jing green tea, Fairies Blood, peppermint and camomile. Left Field Kombucha for something probiotic. Soda Folk craft sodas. And for those avoiding alcohol, Feragaia, a Scottish spirit alternative with botanicals, served with tonic or ginger ale.

A Place to Linger

We have seating inside the store and a covered pavement terrace outside for when the weather allows. Free WiFi is available. It's the sort of place where nobody rushes you along, whether you're here for twenty minutes or two hours.
